Netflix Releases New Art For Upcoming Horror Collection ‘Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales Of The Macabre’

The Japanese master of horror is back and he’s here to surprise us with something more spectacular.

But here’s the catch—Netflix is in the works and the release of this new art showing that there’s an upcoming adaptation for this anime is trending.

They also revealed four more of the mangaka’s terrifying tales that will be adapted in the anthology as well as the voice cast for each of the new episodes.

If you’re curious about the stories that have been confirmed for this upcoming anthology, it will include Ice Cream Truck, Library Vision, Headless Statue, and Tomb Town.

Ice Cream Truck follows a mysterious vehicle that delivers sweets to children with a horrifying twist. Library Vision follows a young man who inherits a veritable library of books from his father, with the protagonist struggling with his past thanks to his father’s mania. Headless Statue focuses on creepy constructions that are haunting unsuspecting art students that don’t know what they’re in for. Tomb Town follows a strange town wherein the villagers die and they eerily transform into gravestones.

Netflix also unveils the cast members which include Hisako Kanemoto, Ryotaro Okiayu, Ryohei Kimura, Yuki Kaji, and Fumiko Orikasa, among others.

With many anime fans feeling that the previous Junji Ito anthology series was unable to live up to the high standards that were set by the manga artist’s work, we’re crossing our fingers that these two upcoming television series will make horror anime fans happy.

Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre is coming to Netflix on January 19, 2023.
