Social news and entertainment website We the Pvblic won Lifestyle Media of the Year – Gold at the Asia Pacific Publishing Awards (APPA) 2018 by Media Publishers Association Singapore (MPAS) held on November 8, 2018 at One Farrer Hotel in Singapore.
The MPAS Awards, now on its 12th year, lauds Singapore-based publications and individuals for their remarkable contribution in pushing for relevant content and campaigns, and embracing innovation in the media industry. The APPA awards is organized for the first time to celebrate the best of print and online media across the Asia-Pacific region, starting with Southeast Asia this year.
The Lifestyle Media of the Year – Gold award is a first for We the Pvblic since it was launched in November of 2015. Founder and CEO Chris Egan Roxas and Editor in Chief and Managing Partner Gil Cadiz attended the event to receive the award from Alex Cano, MPAS Honorary Treasurer.
Gil Cadiz said, “What a sweet way to usher in our third anniversary month. Huge thanks to this year’s judges and to MPAS for this honor. This is yet another inspiration for the entire We the Pvblic team to continue creating content that informs, entertains, inspires and influences the Filipino millennials.”

Other APPA 2018 winners include Charlton Media Group, INK, Asian Geographic Magazines, Mumbrella Asia and HRM Asia.
The awards were judged by six experts in the creative sector, public relations and media publishing; namely, James Lim – Creative Director of Hakuhodo Inc., Dean Carroll – Publisher of Mumbrella Asia, James Hewes – President and CEO of FIPP, David Tay – former President of Photographic Society of Singapore, Lynda Williams – Founder and Managing Director of Vim & Vigour PR, and (Head Judge) Marina Mathews – Founder and Managing Director of Chrysler Communications.
The APPA and MPAS Awards 2018 ceremony was attended by over 35 publishing companies and 180 stakeholders in the industry.
