Casino Filipino
Every 90s Pinoy knows this nostalgic ad.
This popular ad by Casino Filipino was aired in 1996. It was licensed by PAGCOR, also known as Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.
The voice-over in this ad was recorded by Peter Musngi aka Peter Rabbit. He is primarily the reason why this ad is loved so much. He has been a voice-over artist in ABS-CBN since 1986.
Newtex Napkins
This ad was aired on May 24, 1987. It was about Newtex napkins with a catchy song lyrics “Dalaga ka na, hindi na bata”. Many people remember this ad because of Jennifer Sevilla, a famous Filipino actress at that time.
SC Johnson
This ad was aired in the 1970s featuring a superhero character, KJ Johnson. It was for a wax paste that gave shine and gloss to your house. It featured two goons potentially harassing a woman then a comically dressed KJ superhero came to her rescue and smashed the goons to the ground.
The magic happened when they fell bare faced on the floor as they were captivated by its shine and glossiness. The arrival of the product breaking in the window was the icing on top.
Trosyd Pfizer Cream
Pfizer cream was another ad that went viral due to its quirky and fun voice-over. This commercial was played over and over to the point that you can even memorize the whole Trosyd spiel. It was about the Trosyd Pfizer cream; a popular anti-fungal cream used to protect the skin against fungus.
Jollibee Chicken Joy
This ad was aired in 1997 starring Aga Muhlach. This is such a nostalgic ad that takes the 90s kids back to their era.
Jollibee aired this ad to promote their delicious and crispy fried chicken (joy). This ad popularized the famous quote, “Isa pa, isa pa, isa pang Chicken Joy.”
It also paved the way for Serena Dalrymple who became a famous Filipino actress. However, she retired from the industry in 2004.
McDonald’s
This iconic ad by McDonald’s aired in 2001 which left a mark on people’s hearts. It showed the concept of love between lolo and apo, (grandfather and granddaughter). In this ad, lolo kept referring to Karen as Gina, his another apo which disheartened Karen.
However, when lolo mentioned that his favorite apo was actually Karen, her gloomy face lit up. It showed how he truly cared for Karen. This touching scene served as the overall hook of the advert.
Several years later, this ad brought back a lot of memories to the Filipino people when Rudy Francisco, the actor playing the lolo, sadly passed away in 2019.
