Nowadays, there is clearly a huge competition in advertising. You’ll notice that brands compete to excel from one another.
However, brands like Nike never disappoint their consumers with their well executed advertisements. Nike has made thousands of ads to date, but there are some that stands out from the rest.
These commercials were memorable, impressive and awe-inspiring that triggered emotions you never thought you had.
We hand-picked these six adverts as they focus on various demographics and age bracket. Some of these ads concentrate on emotion and motivation. While others are an excellent example of product placement.
If You Let Me Play
If you let me play is one of the best Nike commercials of all time. It talks about possibilities and dreams. The commercial’s main characters were ordinary teenage girls who were sometimes overlooked in sports.
It speaks about woman empowerment and the positive impact that would come out only if you let them play. Not to mention that this is Oprah’s favorite Nike Ad.
Find your Greatness
This is one of the most watched Nike commercials of all time. This ad touched a sensitive spot because we always root for the underdogs. A commercial that was made for people trying their hardest to achieve their goal. It inspired many people to keep reaching for their dreams no matter how long the journey will be. It denotes the struggles and the pain of people running alone to finish a goal. The central theme of this commercial is that personal greatness is hidden inside every person. Greatness is not exclusive for superstars and athletes. Greatness is not a rare DNA, it is in everyone.
Roger Federer Kills Flies
This commercial features Roger Federer, a world champion tennis player. This is a perfect example on how you highlight a product; subtle and functional. We all know that Federer is undeniably fast and his agile ability to move freely clearly complemented with Nike products. Subconsciously, maybe the ad also depicts Federer’s capability to beat his opponents swiftly seeing them as mere ‘flies’.
Write the Future
‘Write the Future’ was made by an Oscar-winning Mexican filmmaker. The commercial consisted of football heroes Christiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba, Fabio Cannavaro, Wayne Rooney, Roger Federer, Kobe Bryant, Wayne Rooney, and Franck Ribéry. This action-packed advert mainly focused on the chain of events that would happen if you play the game really well. It depicts the ability to decide on your future if you just focus and give your all. The commercial is 3 minutes and won a Film Grand Prix award in 2011.
The Great Chase
For Nike, creative commercials are a priority as it is a globally recognized brand. This commercial was based on the idea of Chinese Lunar Year traditions as the elders give gifts to young people wrapped in red envelopes. Similarly, when the younger ones become older, they pay it forward to the next generation, and the cycle goes on. Using Nike running shoes as the symbol for ‘The Chase’, this ad is a beautiful execution of using cultural method mixed with an emotional hook.
Colin Kaepernick
If there’s an ad that will give you superpowers, maybe this is it. This commercial encompasses the whole DNA of what Nike is all about. In its 30th Anniversary, Nike created an ad that believes in the power of your determination. It touched every segment from heroes to misfits; that everything is possible if you just believe in the power of your dreams. No matter what odds and circumstances, Nike wants you to ‘Just Do It’.
