Love, Death & Robots is a collection of animated short stories that is in a wide range of genres including fantasy, science fiction, horror, and comedy. This is an adult anthology series created by Tim Miller and David Fincher, the creators of two separate movies, Deadpool and The Breakfast Club.
ANIMATION STYLES
World-class animators gather for the making of this anthology.
From the classic 2D animation to photo-real 3D, this series showed bone-grabbing art styles with very mesmerizing and darkly-compelling storylines.
The main animation styles used in this series include half-realistic, quasi-gamish, and traditional which all achieved in a hyper-realistic cinematic style.
Since some of the animation styles were built in those styles—Blur Studio, the studio who produced these different artistic styles, managed to expand it into a more complex and convincing process.
SUITS (Season 1, Episode 4)
This episode used a lot of hand-painted textures that is somewhat closer to 2D. They also used a non-photorealistic rendering in this episode. The team focused on the lighting and shadows for this episode for it stay consistent.
HELPING HAND (Season 1, Episode 11)
This episode was made possible through a motion capture in a soundstage. After those process that took hours, the team focused on the props to create the look of appearing zero in gravity.
THE WITNESS (Season 1, Episode 3)
This episode is probably one of the bests. This is made through graphic but realistic type that focuses on keyframing. The backgrounds are made up of 2D painted backgrounds, which is the main art style of the art director, Alberto Mielgo.
RENDERING
The team used V-ray in rendering, a computer-generated imagery rendering software application. V-ray was used to add depth and atmosphere in the sequence and full control of the lighting.
All animation supervisors adjusted to since this is an anthology and all of it came out as jaw-dropping as it can be.
SUMMARY
All the more, this anthology is considered as one of the most fantastic animated shows created for they also provided mind-blowing stories which made everything close to perfection.
This is an epitome that when art styles are combined and explored altogether, they really provide exquisite results.
