Wordle is a daily word game that you can play through your browser. Like crossword puzzles, it can only be played once a day. Every 24 hours there’s a new word of the day, and it’s up to you to figure out what it is.
HOW TO PLAY
Wordle gives players six chances to guess a randomly selected five-letter word. Each guess needs to be a valid five-letter word. After every guess, the tiles will change colors depending on how close you are to the right answer. If the tiles turn green, it means your letters are both correct and in the right place.
THE CATCH
What makes this game exciting and fun is that there’s only puzzle per day and you didn’t get it right, you have to wait until tomorrow for a new one.
Everyone is playing the exact same puzzle. Amazing isn’t?
Note that the word and letters you chose are concealed. Your journey towards the word in a series will be seen in colors yellow, green and gray boxes.
THE CREATOR
Wordle is the work of software engineer Josh Wardle, who originally created the game for his partner who is a fan of word games.
Because this game has gotten bigger and that he is just one person, Josh Wardle sold Wordle to The New York Times last January 31, 2022.
The game will become part of New York Times subscription puzzle service, but Wardle made sure that Wordle would remain free-to-play and that current streaks would be preserved in the move.
