For those who grew up and close to the arms of their grandparents, this true to life story will tear you up.
CANVAS
Canvas is a 9-minute dialogue-free animated film on Netflix about the tale of a grandfather who, after the passing of his wife, loses his passion to paint. He is in a constant struggle between reigniting the thing he loved the most to do while painfully enduring the loss of his wife. But all of these were thoroughly proved because of the regular visits of his granddaughter.
This story was inspired by the personal experience of film writer and director, Frank Abney III, after losing his father at the age of five. This was his personal project that was made genuinely from an attitude with all personal touches.
ART STYLE
The animation is 100 % true to its core as it was clean and impressive. In here, they actually showcased two art style and forms in: a 3D CG style as well as a hand-drawn 2D style.
This will make you recall all animated series from Pixar—because Abney once showcased his talents in greatest animated hits from Pixar, DreamWorks, and Walt Disney Animation Studios.
