PSY is a South Korean singer, rapper, song writer, and record producer known for his great hit ‘Gangnam Style’.
We all know that ‘Gangnam Style’ really defined the K-pop industry. In 2017, it broke records for it knocked off as the most viewed music video on YouTube. PSY had held the title since November 2012, when he became the first person to reach 1 billion views, then 2 billion, breaking YouTube’s view counter in the process.
In December 2012, MTV noted Psy’s rise from being little known outside South Korea, to being hailed as the Viral Star of 2012.
Apart from Gangnam Style, Psy also saw chart success in 2013 when he released “Gentleman” as a single; the track hit No. 5 on the Hot 100.
The upcoming album will be PSY’s ninth and it will be out on April 29.
He knew that many of his fans all around the globe are expecting a lot this time around because his songs were all viral hits.
“To be honest, I produced ‘Champion’ in 2002 and it took me exactly 10 years to produce a song that is more sensational than ‘Champion’ with the release of ‘Gangnam Style’ in 2012.” He said.
“What I’m trying to say is, perhaps the next time you’ll meet a song like ‘Gangnam Style,’ maybe in 2022.” He added.
His last full-length album was 4X2=8 and it was released in 2017 under YG entertainment.
