Anime continues to surprise us with the themes of “different worlds” and we’re not complaining.
Netflix has revealed a brand-new teaser trailer for the upcoming anime film, Drifting Home, the third feature-length film from animation studio Studio Colorido.
The studio’s previous works streamed on Netflix include ‘A Whisker Away’, a story about a girl who transforms into a cat. Others works include ‘Burn the Witch’, a story about “reverse” side of London that involves invisible dragons, and ‘Penguin Highway’, a story about a genius boy and a woman who research the mysterious appearance of a bunch of penguins. Studio Colorido is no stranger when it comes to the fantasy genre.
Drifting Home revolves in the story of sixth-graders Kosuke and Natsume who grew up in the same apartment building as childhood friends. During summer break, while playing in the apartment building that is set to be demolished, they find themselves caught in a strange phenomenon. When they regain consciousness, they see nothing but a vast sea before them. Their apartment is now floating in the sea.
How thrilling and peculiar is that? Reminds everyone of Studio Ghibli’s Howl’s Moving Castle.
Drifting Home is available to stream on Netflix this coming September 16.
