Beyoncé’s highly anticipated seventh solo album, “Renaissance,” has finally arrived. The singer released her 16-track album and this project is freaking good, despite what the Internet says.
The album—also titled Act I: Renaissance—is the first act of a trilogy project Beyoncé started during the COVID-19 pandemic. It features 16 songs including lead single “Break My Soul,” which peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as tracks like “Energy,” “Virgo’s Groove”, and “Summer Renaissance.”
The album rollout over the last month and a half has revealed a lot of fun surprises. A week before its release, Beyoncé shared the official track list in a July 20 Instagram Story. The announcement came a few weeks after she unveiled the “Renaissance” album art, which dropped on June 30, along with an Instagram caption explaining the album’s inspiration.
According to her, creating this album allowed her a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world.
“My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration. I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.” Beyoncé added.
In a post on her website in July 2022, Beyoncé dedicated her album to her husband, Jay-Z; three kids, Rumi, Sir and Blue; and her uncle Johnny, her late first cousin, as well as other members of her family.
Renaissance is Beyoncé’s first solo album since 2016’s ‘Lemonade’. But, she’s been incredibly busy since then. She has yet to announce a “Renaissance” tour, but with an album this grand, it’s surely on the way.
