Just can’t stress enough how good this ongoing drama is.
There is no denying that September has some really intriguing K-dramas that are ongoing and are about to begin. This new mystery-thriller ‘Little Women’ is slamming not only the Korean tv charts but also topping globally.
ABOUT THE DRAMA
Little Women is a Korean mystery thriller drama that revolves around the predicament faced by three sisters. The story follows their journey after they find themselves in the midst of a major incident that changes their lives forever. Directed by Kim Hee-won and written by Jung Seo-kyung, the drama stars Kim Go-eun, Nam Ji-hyun, Park Ji-hoo, Wo Ha-joon, alongside other cast members.
While this show is on the works, many have thought that this might be a little adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s classic—a refreshing and sinister spin on her beloved novel, with episodes that have made an eerie, unpredictable, and utterly engaging experience. The twists are on a different level.
Here are some of the best reasons why you should watch this k-drama:
1. A FRESH TAKE ON A FAMILIAR MATERIAL
In the trailer, you will see that on the surface, the plot for this adaptation of the classic novel seems to bear only a glancing resemblance to the source material. In this case, although we still have the familiar collection of sisters (although there are 3 now instead of 4), they are instead thrown into what seems to be a thriller following the discovery of a bag of cash. The characterizations of the characters seem to hold from the classic novel, but this looks likely to be a total reimagining of the book you know and likely love.
2. THE CASTS ARE INTRIGUING
Regular viewers of Netflix K-Dramas will likely already be familiar with a number of the cast appearing in Little Women. Kim Go Eun from Goblin, Nam Ji Hyun from 100 Days my Prince, and Park Ji Hoo from All Of Us Are Dead take up roles as the March sisters and are ably supported by Wi Ha-Joon. It looks like a talented ensemble.
3. THE MAKERS AND THE TEAM
Perhaps, what’s even more impressive than the cast is the talent assembled to work on the behind-the-scenes aspect of this show. The show is directed Kim Hee Won (Vincenzo) and written by Jung Seo Kyung (The Handmaiden, Mother). On the script side, in particular, they have called on some heavy firepower with the writer of mainstream Hollywood hits on the team.
4. THE BLUE ORCHID AND THE RED HEELS
The mysterious flower that pops up around the victims of the schemes made by the rich and powerful is so beautiful and fear-inducing that it deserves a stage of its own. The red heels are also holding such a poetic connection with death that we cannot ignore them. These two are the real mystery because the people behind them are the ones that are in hiding. The symbol of power that precedes over death, is what these two are.
5. THE GAP IN BETWEEN
The gap between the protagonists who have to adjust are also made into outcasts is very well compared with those who have the power in their hands to make or break their lives. The little happiness that they work hard for is easily attainable by others is sad but true.
CONCLUSION
“Little Women” tops the list of most buzzworthy dramas of 2022 and it’s still on-going. With eight episodes provided, the fast-paced drama is bringing spectacular vibes to all audiences globally. What makes a show like Little Women work, is also how visually immersive the experience is. It is beautifully-shot, and every frame is filled with bursts of color and warmth, despite the rather dark proceedings.
The unanswered questions and mystery only seem to have progressively grown with every episode so far, and this is a very promising and exciting sign of things to come in this brilliant thriller.
