(G)I-DLE has returned with their new single ‘Nxde’ as part of the group’s fifth mini album “I Love.” Their much-awaited 5th mini album talks about staying true to themselves and the girls are owning the retro style.
The 4th gen queens had fans buzzing for their comeback after raising the heat with stunning teasers prior to the release. In one of the early meetings about the new album, the group’s talented leader and also producer Soyeon, presented the idea and detailed inspirations.
She further spoke about being inspired by Marilyn Monroe. She said,
She was famous for being sexually attractive and had a dumb blonde image. But I heard she was actually very smart. She liked reading very much too. So, she wanted to shake off her image and show who she really was.
In particular, the title track ‘Nxde’ is an alternative pop song that samples an aria from ‘Habanera’ from Georges Bizet’s 1875 opéra comique, Carmen. The track, which features a jazzy rhythm, was written and produced by (G)I-DLE member Soyeon, alongside Pop Time and Kako.
Soyeon expressed her motive to “beat the stereotypes” with the new album. The Tomboy hitmaker took everyone by surprise when she declared that metaphorically, the group will “take it all off.”
The powerful music video was inspired by Marilyn Monroe and the famous street artist from England, Banksy. (G)I-DLE honored the icons with the ending credits of the MV.
In their empowering ‘blonde’ era, the girls are flawless with all the glitz and glamour as they deliver the statement of being more than just their looks.
