Jin from BTS has revealed the first glimpse of his concept for the upcoming solo. The track is set to arrive from the BTS singer at the end of this month, on Oct. 28, via BigHit Music. According to BigHit’s press release, the song is “meant to be a gift for the fans.”
The K-pop idol also shared the very first logo trailer for the song, which features a tiny astronaut exiting a massive, futuristic space station as he floats high above the earth. From there, he travels through a meteor shower, past moons and planets, satellites, and asteroid fields before arriving at an otherworldly source of light that envelops him completely as the song’s official logo takes over the screen.
‘The Astronaut’ announcement comes just one day after news broke that all seven members of the K-pop boy band will face the mandate to serve in South Korea’s military for at least 18 months.
A Coldplay and A Kim Seokjin Collab?
First of all, BTS and Coldplay have a long history together. After BTS covered Coldplay’s hit single “Fix You” during their MTV Unplugged appearance in February 2020, the group lent their vocals to Coldplay’s single “My Universe” in September 2021.
Another fun fact: The song was part of Coldplay’s ninth studio album, Music of the Spheres. That same month, BTS and Coldplay met in person for the first time. During their meeting, Chris Martin gave Jin his personal guitar for being such a big fan of the band.
According to a press release, Jin’s solo single expresses his fondness for ARMY (aka BTS fans) and is meant to be a gift for them. ‘The Astronaut’ will be Jin’s final release before he begins to carry out his mandatory military service, the news of his solo single was bittersweet to fans.
On the other hand, there’s a photo of The Astronaut’s album credits wherein Chris Martin’s name (Lead Vocalist and Pianist of Coldplay) were almost everywhere in the contribution list. So, we know what that’s going to be.
Big Hit Music confirms British Rock Band Coldplay co-wrote the upcoming solo single Kim Seokjin. That’s some good news out there and we know it’s gonna be lit.
