‘ITZY’ Returns With Their First Original English Single With A Halloween-Themed Music Video

The K-pop quintet have returned with their first original English single ‘Boys Like You,’ empowering listeners to steer away from men who are no match for them.

Like many of ITZY’s K-pop singles, the new pop track is an empowerment anthem. This time, the girls realize their worth and refuse to take back a two-timing boyfriend with a mix of sassy, catchy rap rhymes.

‘Boys Like You’ draws sonic influences from the entrancing lineage of the pop-punk sound. The track has a refreshing and crunchy bass, opening a gateway for the groovy synth to slowly grow on you. The vocal performances complement the soundscape with members ITZY members Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna passing on the mic, deepening the sonic appeal of the track with their distinctive vocal styles. Enigmatic and Remarkable.

Tapping into the spirit of Halloween, the music video takes place at a season-themed party, where all five members find themselves eyeing a mysterious and gorgeous knight. While not explicitly stated by the artist or label, Boys Like You seems to mark the latest release by a K-pop act directly targeting the U.S. market with an original English single.

‘Boys Like You’ marks ITZY’s first original English-language track. Before this single, the group released English-language versions of their previous title tracks. It also marks the group’s second release of the year. Three months prior, ITZY released their fifth mini-album ‘Checkmate’, which was led by the single ‘Sneakers’. That record included an English-language version of the title track, alongside B-sides ‘Rac3r’, ‘What I Want’, ‘Free Fall’, ‘365’, and ‘Domino’.

Apart from their musical projects, they’re also set to embark on their first-ever world tour later this year. The tour, in support of mini-album ‘Checkmate’, will see the group perform in eight cities in the US before holding performances in Manila, Singapore, Jakarta, and Bangkok.
