SBTown Producer Launches New P-pop Girl Group And They’re Already Making A Noise

Still can’t deny the fact that when it to trends and music, P-pop is alive and thriving. There’s no way in this world Filipino acts won’t be hitting the ground.

Meet YGIG.

YGIG is a seven-member girl group who debuted under SBTown—the management behind the P-pop powerhouse SB19. YGIG stands for ‘You Go, I Go’ which aims to showcase the Filipino culture in both local and international scene. The group is composed of seven members: Alexei, Maeg, JM, Vien, Darlene, Hazelyn, and Jewel, who all underwent rigid training for four long years before debuting.

YGIG is trained by Korean trainer Adie Hong and underwent extensive training under the SBTalent Camp.

“Every training is really hard. I’m sure everyone experienced the pandemic so everyone knows how hard it is for everyone, especially the YGIG members. They are very young. They did not give up. They fully trust the company. They sincerely participated in the training,” Hong mentioned.

The growing popularity of P-pop in today’s industry is widely recognized especially the girl groups which include BINI, KAIA, and MNL48.

What to expect from YGIG? A lot. YGIG is set to release their debut lead single “Shaba Shaba.” The title came from the Filipino phrase “Siya ba?”

The song is described as a term being used to cast a love spell and was written by the members themselves. The YGIG launch came just several days after SBTown inked a partnership with Universal Records to boost the P-pop scene here in the Philippines. And as for now, the music label will also co-manage the girl group.
