This upcoming Filipino live adaptation of the Voltes V series has released a five-minute trailer ahead of its premiere in the second quarter of this year. GMA Entertainment Group is producing the series, under the direction of Mark Reyes. The series is listed with 80 episodes.
We all know that Voltes V is Voltes V—a staple memory and resemblance of a good childhood memory. The live-action adaptation of the popular franchise sought supervision and approval from Toei Company, who produced the anime series in the late 1970s and according to the creators in which took years to process.
The original Voltes V Japanese series first aired in the Philippines in 1978 before being banned citing “excessive violence.” The trailer has garnered over one million views on Facebook and has received positive feedback from fans in the country.
The Voltes Team will be played by Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega, Radson Flores, Matt Lozano, and Raphael Landicho. They will star as Steve Armstrong, Jamie Robinson, Mark Gordon, Big Bert Armstrong, and Little Jon Armstrong, respectively. Martin del Rosario will give life to Prince Zardoz, the leader of the Boazanian forces who want to invade planet Earth. Albert Martinez is also one of the veteran actors to watch out for. He will play the role of Dr. Smith, a renowned scientist who has contributed to the creation of the Voltes V robot.
Though no release date has been set, fans can expect Voltes V: Legacy to hit the network sometime this 2023.
