1. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

The book was that talk of the town and if you haven’t watched it, you’re missing out. This movie slash tv series is about Lara Jean, who secretly wrote letters addressed to her crushes. She hid all the letters inside a box under her bed. One day, all the letters were mailed, causing all her crushes to confront her with the contents of the letters. 

This book was the first out of three books. The first movie was released in 2018, making it a good series to binge watch on.

2. Normal People

If you have been to Booktok, Normal People must be familiar to you because of the mixed reviews Sally Rooney has received about her writing style. However, it is undoubtedly recognized that the series adaptation of Normal People is known for its great visual storytelling.

 

This story revolves around Connell and Marianne, who pretend not to know each other in school. Connell is known to be popular and well adverse to his peers, while Marianne is an opinionated, lonely and a private person. Their strange connection they have was peeled throughout their adulthood as they grow separately. Complications towards their relationship was shown as they figure out themselves individually and separately as college students. The story progresses when they discover each other again, as if it is meant to be. Overall, the story is a psychological depiction of how trauma and complex experiences bottle up and affect present and future relationships.

3. Where the Crawdads Sing

Where The Crawdads Sing is a global phenomenon for its plot and for Taylor Swift’s song ‘Carolina’. It tells the story about a girl who lives in isolation and her being exposed to abuse and sexual harassment. The story unfolds to how she copes with life and relationships as family wasn’t there to watch and teach her to grow. She raises herself in the marshes of the Deep South and suddenly becomes a suspect in the murder of a man with whom she was once involved. The twists are frightening and the story was crafted in ways you can’t imagine.  It’s a story that involves mystery, relationships, and thrill.

4. The Gray Man

Ryan Gosling + Chris Evans = Match made in Heaven. The Gray Man is a film produced by Netflix and it centers around the story of Six, a highly-skilled assassin who is part of a CIA Sierra Program where non-agents are recruited to fulfill missions on an off-the-books contract basis. In completing one such contract he discovers that the man he killed was a fellow Sierra member, Four. Four was killed because he had incriminating information on Carmichael, a senior CIA operative. Now, Six has that information and Carmichael will do anything to get it.

5. My Policeman

HARRY STYLES EVERYBODY! ‘My Policeman’ has been getting all the hype because of the big actors who are in this story. It is also an LGBT-represented film that takes place in the year 1950’s to 1999. It’s a story of a forbidden love as it follows a painful and tragic story of two men in love but cannot because of legalities. The film represents two timelines, one during their relationship and the other when they grew older. A beautiful story which gives nostalgia, it surely tackles how time flies but also how their love remains.
