How Do Fashion Brands Pick Their Ambassadors?

Brand ambassadors play a great role in promoting the brand’s image; they increase its visibility and easily connect with its target audience.
People with a solid reputation and credibility in their respective fields frequently serve as brand ambassadors. When these people support a brand, their credibility may be transferred to the brand, fostering consumer trust.

Lately, it has been a battle of who is who because K-pop idols are making their way through brands, and some brands seem to overflow with artists we know from the music industry.

GUCCI

Italian fashion house Gucci named EXO’s Kai as their first Korean Eyewear Men Global Ambassador in 2019. Kai also became the global ambassador the following year. IU is another K-pop idol who endorses Gucci. She was first appointed as the brand ambassador to South Korea in 2020. In 2022, Hanni from NewJeans joined the ranks of idols as Gucci ambassadors, making her debut at Milan Fashion Week 2023.

YVES SAINT LAURENT

This French haute-couture brand is winning for having Blackpink’s Rose in their brand. In 2020, Rosé made history by becoming the first global brand ambassador in nearly 60 years. The brand’s creative director invited Rosé to attend the 2021 Met Gala. She was chosen as Yves Saint Laurent Beauty’s newest muse in January 2021.

NewJeans, the newest Gen-Z K-pop girl group making their name on the list of new idols, is also making their way across brands. NewJeans’ Danielle joined YSL in 2023.

GRAFF

The GRAFF brand is renowned throughout the world as a premium and exclusive diamond brand. It is well-known and respected throughout the world for its exquisite raw diamonds, which are then skillfully crafted by hand to achieve a special brilliance that transforms the jewelry into a work of art. Minatozaki Sana from TWICE is the new and first ambassador of this luxurious diamond brand. Only members of royalty and the most famous can wear accessories from this brand, which conveniently makes Sana a complete success.

GIVENCHY

Home to French luxury scents and styles, Givenchy also houses some of the most fashionable idols. Big Bang member Taeyang is the first Korean male artist to become its Global Brand Ambassador. Prior to that, K-pop girl group Aespa became the first Korean artists to join Givenchy.

BURBERRY

Burberry is best known for its outerwear and bags. This British company has Baekhyun as one of its ambassadors. Danielle from NewJeans also mentioned she was part of this endorsement.

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO

Red Velvet is one of the most well-known and successful female idol groups in K-Pop, and Seulgi, the group’s primary dancer and lead vocalist, has recently been named an ambassador for the Salvatore Ferragamo fashion house. She was selected for “embodying the light-heartedness of youth, a unique sense of style, passion for her craft, and creativity” and made her campaign debut with the Let’s Dance Capsule collection.

Our time is the era of brands. Because there are more companies opening up every day, customers are increasingly using company values as their primary differentiator when making purchases. To differentiate themselves, these companies must use digital marketing techniques and the online personas of brand ambassadors and influencers. An increasingly common strategy used by businesses to increase consumer awareness of their brand, values, and purpose is to supplement their conventional branding efforts by utilizing the profile of a well-known or influential person.

CONCLUSION

We have never seen K-pop like ever before. They have a distinctive effect and influence on their followers. The lengths fans would go to obtain the goods their heroes are hawking: having K-pop idols or actors as brand ambassadors helps the products or brands get more attention because they are well known to have large fan bases (followers who are constantly updated about them). Simply put, they are strikingly beautiful.

Fashion companies would want K-pop stars as ambassadors because the group is also well-known for their style. Their value as a brand will also be demonstrated by their ability to secure excellent ambassadors.
