P-Pop and K-Pop Rise: A Concert Celebrating Cultural Harmony and Global Beats

P-Pop and K-Pop stans rise! Last Sunday, May 26, 2024, XSM attended SBTown’s Music Fiesta, which showcased unique performances from South Korea and the Philippines to Filipino fans at the Rizal Park Open Air Auditorium.

The SBTown Music Fiesta was a celebration of unity and camaraderie between the two unique cultures of South Korea and the Philippines. Between the two countries, friendship grew stronger over the years and is now celebrating its 75th year through music and holding this event as a platform to showcase the rising talents of K-Pop and P-Pop.

The concert featured performances from P-Pop and K-Pop groups PLUUS, QUEENZ EYE, YGIG, DIGNITY, BILIB, X:IN, and solo artists Yu Suhyun, Jang Hyeri, Zela, and Darlene, as well as actors Danny Lee and Kim Jisoo.

A special event where Manila Koreatown Association (MAKOTA) and Worldwide Link provided scholarships to students from PEFTOK (Philippines Expeditionary Force to Korea)

And to celebrate the Veterans Association to commemorate the 75 years of friendship between the Philippines and South Korea.

The concert was held last Sunday, May 24, and Metro Manila was facing a terrible typhoon, but that didn’t stop the excited fans from seeing their favorite groups perform; it just shows how dedicated Filipino fans are. Rain or shine, we’ll show up. The cheers were so loud that the groups were in awe at the number of people who attended to see them despite the weather. It made them appreciative and gave their best performances, making the crowds cheer louder.

THE FUTURE IS NOW: PLUUS AND QUEENZ EYE

There were two standouts of the night that left a mark in the crowd—PLUUS and Queenz Eye.

PLUUS, SBTown’s six-member Filipino boy group, graced the stage with their boy next door charms, choreos, and vocals. The group’s fandom, named SUM, did not disappoint with a huge turnout, adding to the intensity of the atmosphere during the performance. As every fan sang along to the lyrics, PLUUS matched the energy with more charisma on stage.

Another highlight of the evening was the five-piece South Korean girl group Queenz Eye, who radiated the charm of fifth-generation idols mixed with the enthusiasm of second-generation idols. They performed their original songs ‘This Is Love’ and ‘UN-Normal,’ but it was their dance medley of Bini’s hit song ‘Salamin, Salamin’ followed by BLACKPINK Lisa’s ‘MONEY’ that really made the crowd go wild. After the performance, there was a whole minute of pure applause and cheers from the crowd for their incredible ten-minute performance, and we’re sure Queenz Eye finally caught the eyes of Filipino fans.

The concert went on for almost 3 hours as PLUUS, being the last performer of the night, kept the energy going as the crowds cheering got louder and louder. The concert ended strong. After all the performances, all the acts gathered on the stage to bow and say goodbye to their fans and new fans.

SBTown Music Fiesta was a huge success bringing non-stop performances of Various Artists from different Entertainments both South Korea and Philippines not only that but the concert also included funny yet charming interjections from hosts Danny Lee and Mr. Geong Seong Han also known as Tatang Robin, the concert never had a dull moment and we’re sure we’ll see more amazing performances soon as this is actually the second time SBTown and Manila Koreatown organized this kind of event as last May 11, 2024 KWave Music Festival was brought to the fans with a similar goal to promote P-Pop and K-pop featuring popular K-pop groups ‘The Boyz’ and ‘Fromis9’ so we’ll be definitely on the lookout for the future of K-Pop and P-Pop events.
