Comeback Era: Paramore Is Returning With A New Single ‘This Is Why’

Paramore have announced the release date for their first new single in five years. The group revealed on social media that they will release ‘This Is Why’ on the 28th of September.

Since 2017’s After Laughter, Paramore singer Hayley Williams has released two solo records: 2020’s Petals for Armor and 2021’s Flowers for Vases / Descansos. It’s kind of a surprise to see this iconic trio soft launch their legendary comeback by uploading a snippet via Discord.

The rock band released a schedule on their official website. The website is completely void of graphics and only shows a list of dates with some cryptic words.

It says “9.1 – discord,” and sure enough the band released a 10-second clip of Hayley Williams, the band’s lead vocalist, singing in a recording booth.

Back in January, Paramore revealed that they were in the studio working on a new full-length album. The band confirmed that they’d completed their earliest songwriting sessions in Nashville, Tennessee and had later relocated to a studio in California to record.

At the time, Williams explained that she and York had been reminiscing over some of their earliest influences before they began writing the LP. But the trio said it didn’t necessarily mean they would be releasing a “comeback ’emo’ record”.

Paramore have already teased two little sneaky studio snippets—and here we are, waiting for September 28 to hurry the hell up.
