Filipino Actress Dolly De Leon Gets Golden Globe Nomination For ‘Triangle of Sadness’

Never a new thing to see Filipino acts in the international scene. Just recently, Filipina actress Dolly de Leon was named best supporting performer by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) for her role as toilet manager in ‘Triangle of Sadness’.

She is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in the 80th Golden Globe Awards, which will be held on Jan. 10, 2023 in Beverly Hills, California.

Dolly is competing against Angela Bassett (“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”), Jean Smart (“Babylon”), Kerry Condon (“The Banshees of Inisherin”), Claire Foy (“Women Talking”), and Jamie Lee Curtis (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”).

During her interview at the QCinema opening ceremony back in November, Dolly shared that she hopes for the best during her campaign for the official Oscars nomination.

“Ang dami pa po kasing pwedeng mangyari, kasi November pa lang and meron pa tayong dalawang buwan, so baka may bagong pang pumasok hindi natin alam pero sana makapasok po tayo,” she said, during an interview last month.

Triangle of Sadness, is Swedish director Ruben Ostlund’s latest satirical feature, which won the Palme d’Or for Best Picture at the Cannes Film Festival in May. In the film, Dolly’s character, Abigail, ends up stranded on an island with ultra-rich strangers after they survive the sinking of a luxury cruise ship.
