‘Sk8ter Boi To Love Sux’: Avril Lavigne Is Still The Queen Of Pop-Punk Music

Chill out, what ya yellin’ for?

Complicated no more as Avril Lavigne dropped her latest album, ‘Love Sux’ last February 2022.

It’s like we’ve been living the life in our early 2000s as nostalgia hits us with a bang. Avril wrote this album together with her boyfriend, Derek Ryan Smith, also known as ‘Mod Sun’ who is a singer-songwriter and a rapper.

After dwelling onto a Bubblegum type of pop in her 2007 ‘The Best Damn Thing’ album,  Avril proved that she’s back to serving people with all the emo vibes and music confidence like the ones from the past that people still love up to now.

The instrumentals, the visuals, and the lyrics never disappointed people as these are really her trademark—impact to her listeners by capturing their emotions through those powerful combos with a genre that never gets old.

The record opens with the song “Cannonball”, which sets the mood as she starts screaming, “Motherfuckers, let’s go!” It’s an energetic and fun opening for her return to pop-punk and what she describes as a song about being fierce.

Some of the songs include, ‘Dare To Love Me’ which offers a nice time to showcase your vulnerability while listening to this one. It’s like weeping while asking someone to love you or love you back.

The title track ‘Love Sux’ delivers a very upbeat mood for listeners to jump around jamming. It’s super catchy and one of the standouts in the album.

Avril Lavigne is and will still be everyone’s go-to heartbreak and happy song—in karaoke nights, road trips, or when you want to visit down memory lane. This album is definitely nostalgic and one for the books—making us, the listeners, feel everything all at once again.
