‘Exploding Kittens’ will be getting its own television show courtesy of Netflix. Though it takes a thrilling concept to develop an exclusive game version as well as this animated series, it is surely worth the hype.
The masterminds behind Exploding Kittens, card game creators Elan Lee and Matthew “The Oatmeal” Inman, will be the executive producers alongside Mike Judge. As for the actors giving their voices to the animated characters, we will be expecting to hear Lucy Liu and Tom Ellis from behind the screens.
Although Netflix offers multiple “Stranger Things” mobile games for members that are tied to its original series, it clarifies that these games were adapted from the TV series — they were not games that were adapted into a TV series, as Exploding Kittens will be.
Aside from an animated series, ‘Exploding Kittens’ mobile game will also be available to Netflix subscribers starting May 2022. How cool is that?
According to Netflix, the Game will retain the classic gameplay from the original card game, where players draw cards aiming to avoid the Exploding Kitten. Both single-player and multiplayer modes will be available. The mobile version is also adding two new, exclusive cards: One called Radar, which reveals to players the position of the Exploding Kitten closest to the top of the card deck; and Flip Flop, which reverses the order of the cards in the deck. Future cards and game mechanics added to the game will be themed around the animated series.
Subscribers don’t need to pay for additional fees as this will be free.
With the good launch happening, Netflix is interested in testing the market to see if it’s possible to promote a new TV series with a mobile game offering, and whether the TV series can drive new players to the game.
‘Exploding Kittens’ TV series will arrive in 2023.
