Just when you think you’ve seen it all in K-pop, another concept sees the light of day.
We get to see the light and vibrancy of K-music through different groups with absolutely gorgeous music videos but we never get to see the dark ones.
To have it differently, here are six of the best music videos that are dark and very gothic:
1. G(I-DLE) “OH MY GOD”
G(I-DLE) is a South Korean girl group formed by Cube Entertainment consists of members Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqui, and Shuhua. The group’s first attempt to this dark concept may have different from the rest of our perceptions and what is considered “what we’ve used to” but they still managed to pull of such aesthetically-pleasing music video.
2. 2NE1 “IT HURTS”
Daebak! 2NE1 proving that they’re the pioneers of Korean pop music is no joke because it’s all so true. In this music video, they showed us the creepy attic, the death-based dining table, and the overall melancholic vibe of the music video together complement the quartet’s goth-inspired wardrobe and makeup without fault.
3. TXT “GOOD BOY GONE BAD”
TOMORROW X TOGETHER, is a 5-member boy group formed by Big Hit Music (part of HYBE Labels). And it’s a no brainer: BLACK LOOKS GOOD ON THEM.
This mature concept puts them under a completely different and breathtaking light. The spooky cemetery, the vampire-like makeup, and the rebellious attitude all emphasize the boys’ gothic spirit up until the very last frame.
4. RED VELVET (Irene and Seulgi) “MONSTER”
Wait, this is not Russian Roulette or our very SOTY “Psycho”. These fine ladies have stepped away from Red Velvet’s usual colorful concept and joined the dark side in this goosebumps-worthy music video. In here, they just express naturally their inner goth that compliments the music itself and choreography.
5. BIGBANG’S G-Dragon “COUP D’ETAT”
A red, white, and black palette is G-Dragon’s color of choice for this revolutionary videography. He continues to prove that he’s totally such a hotshot when it comes to music themes and vibes. While the music video portrays various representations of a coup, the artist’s attire is straight out of goth town with his thick black eyeliner, chaotic mullet, and eerie performance.
J-Hope OF BTS “MORE”
If you’re a true ARMY, we can all bet to agree that J-hope is the life of the party. We get so used of the smiles and him being all bubbly. With this solo, the rapper channels an edgy style through his black and white jumpers, jester accessories, and emo makeup. Furthermore, his energy throughout the music video screams “goth.”
