Aspiring K-pop male artists, though part of a big boy group, still aspires to be the center of light. A lot of artists coming from major boy and girl groups are making stellar solo debuts because why not?
Xiumin of EXO will put out his first solo album in September, according to local media reports earlier this week.
Xiumin has released a score of solo singles, including ‘You’ from 2019 as well as several original tracks used for TV dramas, but it will be the first album on his own. The eldest member of the band Baekhyun, Chen, Lay, Suho, D.O., and Kai will become the seventh from EXO to do so. While, Chanyeol and Sehun are the only remaining EXO members who have not yet gone solo. The album will also be a milestone in his 10-year career as a member of the band.
Aside from being great music artists, K-pop superstars are versatile when it comes to the entertainment industry. Xiumin previously starred in several musicals across South Korea, such as School OZ, Return: The Promise of the Day, Return, and Hadestown, which finished its run in early 2022.
Part of this rollercoaster career include that he has also lent his voice to the soundtracks of Korean dramas Falling for Challenge, Mr. Queen, and Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo.
