Valar Morghulis!
Wait, this is not The Winds of Winter yet. This is also not a new novel from that HBO hit with your favorite characters such as Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen.
Last February 25, ‘Elden Ring’ was born and made possible by the collaboration between Hidetaka Miyazaki of FromSoftware and Game of Thrones creator and writer George R.R Martin.
This is an action role playing game that is presented through s third-person perspective and the player can freely roam in its interactive free from exploration open world. The gameplay elements include fighting, looting, horseback riding, interacting with non-player characters, and maintaining the character’s status through levelling up, enhancing equipment & weapons, and learning the spells.
One of the surprising facts about this game is that, the world inside feels like thematically a piece with the video game series ‘Souls’. Since George R.R Martin was part of this game, the two creators had many free and creative conversations which led Martin to write something about the overarching mythos for the game world itself. According to Miyazaki, this mythos proved to be full of interesting characters and drama along with a plethora of mystical and mysterious elements as well.
This became a wonderful source of stimulus for him and the development staff.
“Elden Ring’s world was constructed using this mythos and stimulus as a base.” He added.
George R.R Martin is one of the most revered fantasy writers of his time. His distinct writing style gave mad and splendid contributions throughout the development of this game.
Another fun fact: All of Elden Ring’s main gods and demigods have names that start with one of George R.R Martin’s initials. The big four—Godfrey, Rennala, Radagon, and Marika.
