This Cuisine Book Captured The Essence of Filipino Culture

Filipinos are rich in culture and tradition. This is proven through time by the various practices that shaped the whole archipelago. One of the most prominent facets of Philippine cultural history is its distinct dishes. The richness of flavor which sprung upon through several fusions of spices and sauces that makes a delectable Filipino dish.

These characteristics were all captured in this Filipino Cuisine Book entitled Kusinera Filipina by Christina Sunae. The book is designed by Ezequiel Cafaro – an Argentina-based author, designer and educator. Ezequiel complemented the well versed cuisine book by applying stunning typography paired with bright colors. The visuals in the book depict a bright tropic scene that is reminiscent of the pacific’s atmospheric vibe. The use of clean typography and precise symmetry made the book’s aesthetic current and modern. The pages also include images of philippine cities, streets and public transportation which added to an overall filipino authenticity.

“An incredible book that was born from a journey by its author through the geography, streets, culture and cuisine of the Philippines. The challenge was to transform a wonderful documentary material into something tangible and powerful, maintaining the Filipino freshness and at the same time clearly narrating almost 100 recipes. All that allowed me to play with a universe of colors and fonts that come from Filipino jeepneys (buses), boats and street food stalls. Also I introduced some sort of bilingual  text in Spanish and Tagalog (Filipino).”
