Video Games That Thrive In This Time Of Pandemic

With a lot us who are forced to stay at home because of this pandemic, all of the things including leisure and entertainment went down, lost all their sales, and gone bankrupt. People find ways to still have the luxury to do things worthwhile while being stuck at home: video games.

Here are some popular video games here in the Philippines that flourished up until today:

Valorant

This game was originally launched in 2019 but kinda moved to a later date on 2020. It’s first name was supposed to be ‘Project A’ with a limited access for players but later on changed. This game is a 5v5 multiplayer first-person shooter where one team strikes and the other defends. Valorant is a PC-exclusive game right now. The lead game designer, Trevor Romlemski, once mentioned that their team is open to exploring new opportunities for other platforms.

Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact is an action role-playing game developed by Chinese developer Mihoyo, and first published in 2020. The developer basically named Genshin Impact its name because ‘Genshin’ translated in ‘allogenes’ in English dialogue which refers to humans who possesses Visions. They have the potential to be gods that’s why it is named after that.

In it, players control a number of party members, each with different abilities, weapons, gear, and personalities.

The game features an anime style in an open world environment with action battle system using elemental magic and character switching.

Fortnite

Fortnite is a survival game where players fight against each other in versus player combat to be the last one standing. It is a fast-paced, action-packed game. Players collaborate to survive in an open world environment, by battling other characters who are controlled either by the game itself or by other players.

Fortnite was originally built to have the name ‘Save the World’ which players work together to defend themselves against the zombies.

Phasmophobia

Phasmophobia is a 4-player psychological horror game where you and your teammates of paranormal experts will explore a haunted home or building and check if there’s a spirit wandering in that area.
