Why Is The Hologram Design Trending?

Hologram is a photograph of light scattered and displayed in three-dimensional style to create an illusion resulting to shimmering things in fluid-like display. It’s very eye-catching. It’s up on makeup covers, cellphone cases, sling bags, mirror, tumbler, cute pens, and a lot more.

The design world believed that the Hologram trend was first saw during the fall and winter shows of Calvin Klein, Balmain, and Maison Margiela in 2018. Since then, Hologram isn’t only used in such stuff we use for daily lives but also part of the fashion word—skin to skin.

You’ve also seen Holographic designs in many types of application like in Star Wars. This is just a proof that it has been existing for quite some time now but the name and the trend made for it just boomed at this generation.

This is just a natural proof that we can incorporate any types of trends in business and designs were made to explore.

TYPOGRAPHY

Holograms in typefaces are the coolest type. It attracts people who are into letter designs or people who pays more attention in that type of aesthetic. There was a technology developed called the Microsoft HoloLens and it’s an app created for designers who wanted to use holograms in their designs. In here, designers can view typefaces in different dimensions.

Typeface designer, Dong Yoon Park, knew about this but he has already created a typography app in 2011, but he heard about HoloLens that’s why he started to make innovations out of it. The app allowed designers to experiment and play with holographic fonts in a 3D mixed reality environment.

PRODUCT DESIGN

With every design trend coming up to date, products and brands really adapt to cater the trend and deliver it to their customers. The Hologram trend also took place in car design. Ford used Microsoft’s HoloLens mixed with reality technology. In here, you will be able to see shapes, textures, and sizes of their new vehicles in only minutes as opposed to the usual weeks of the traditional design process.

MOVIES

Of course, Holograms are also in the big screens!

Holograms have made an impact in motion pictures even before. It exists in movies to show us realistic effects most especially in genres science fiction, action, fantasy, or the combination of all three.

Filmmakers and designers are adapting this type of design because it adds thrill to visual effects. Some of the films who used Holograms include: The Phantom Menace, Return of the Jedi, Vanilla Sky, Ocean’s Twelve, Iron Man, and Prometheus.

FASHION

The extravaganza of the fashion world is never too late for trends. People can wear anything and so they can wear Hologram. It’s a revolutionizing fashion that ensures to make you look fresh and trendy. The first designer to use the Hologram trend is Alexander McQueen in 2006 wherein he showed an organza gown with her model, Kate Moss. The whole idea dramatically appeared inside the glass of a pyramid.

 

Since then, people have been putting a lot of holograms in the simplest of things because of its noticeable glamor that sparkles before the eye.
