Upcoming HBO Drama ‘The Idol’ Unveils More Celebrity Cast Including BLACKPINK’S Jennie

The Idol is an upcoming drama television series set against in the backdrop of the music industry. The series will focus on self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult who enters a relationship with a rising pop idol.

This series has been trending for a while because of its crazy idea and the powerful cast. The first trailer describes the series as “the sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood” and that makes it more exciting than it looks. The original trailer doesn’t reveal as much but the catch is: it does make apparent that the show will be very similar in tone with Euphoria.

For the plot, it follows the story of Lily-Rose Depp as a pop star named Jocelyn who finds herself drawn into a cult led by a character named Tedros, who himself is a pop star turned self-help guru.

Canadian superstar Abel Tesfaye, better known as ‘The Weeknd’—will star, co-write, and produce this HBO series together with Euphoria creator, Sam Levinson.

Well, for the second trailer of The Idol—this one’s slamming the internet for the past days of its release. The snippets are all over timelines and people are just crazy for the star-studded appearances of celebrities.

The new trailer divulges the series’ extensive supporting and powerful cast and that includes Jennie Kim of BLACKPINK, hip-hop producer Mike Dean, pop star Troye Sivan, singer-songwriter Moses Sumney, Ramsey, Suzanna Son, Eli Roth, Rachel Semnott, Dan Levy, Hari Nef, Da’vine Joy Randolph, and Hank Azaria.

Another star who doesn’t show up, but would make so much sense to appear in The Idol, is pop queen Britney Spears. In a removed Instagram post, Spears posted a video of herself alongside Tesfaye and Levinson that many speculated meant she would be among the show’s cast. So while it’s not confirmed yet, there’s certainly plenty of reason to believe we’ll see Spears pop up on the show.

The show will be one of the last on-screen appearances of the late Anne Heche. Most of the actors’ particular roles are yet to be revealed- so far, only the two leads appear to be confirmed.
