This Filipino Animated Series About Folklore And Mythology Is Now Streaming On Netflix

Guess we are all looking for the perfect place to spot an amazing retelling and it’s just right on time. Filipino mythology got another awesome retelling through “Mga Kwentong Epik: Ang Alamat ni Maria Makiling”.

The six-episode series is now streaming on Netflix and currently on the platform’s Trending Now category.

The show follows a young woman named Ria, who discovers that she is the goddess Maria Makiling which is voiced by actress Ryza Cenon.

This combination of animation and beautifully drawn comic panels is narrated by Bodjie “Kuya Bodjie” Pascua of Batibot fame with each episode running from 20 to 25 minutes.

This binge-worthy animated series also features other folkloric characters such as Pedro Penduko, the Nuno, Babaylan, Aswang and more. It is based on a comic book series of the same name created by Epik Studios.

Few hours after the series was dropped, fans could not contain their excitement to watch it.
